Janette Beighel, Anthony Mock and Rick McIntyre will join incumbent Leslie McBride on the Gateway school board, according to unofficial results of Tuesday’s elections.
Beighel came away with the most votes, taking just under 19% of 31,036 votes cast, according Allegheny County election officials.
“I am unbelievably humbled by receiving the most votes, and knowing the power of votes and the trust every voter gave me,” she said. “In talking to folks yesterday, they appreciated a clean campaign from all the candidates, without any mud-slinging. We talked to them about who we are — I’m a nurse, an advocate, I believe in evidence-based decisions. I like to know the how’s and the why’s.”
She was followed by Mock (17.6%), McBride (17.1%) and McIntyre (16.9%). They will serve four-year terms on the board.
All candidates were cross-filed. School board hopefuls Shirley Ewart (10%), Roger Wilson (9.6%) and Len Young (9.5) appeared on the Republican ballot.
Results are unofficial until certified by the county elections bureau.
