Firearms, theft cases among those recently handled by Judge Herbst in Monroeville

Monroeville District Judge Jeffrey Herbst handled these cases recently. Defendants will have court dates set in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Charges were filed by Monroeville police unless otherwise noted.

Held for court

• Natasha Baltimore, 37, of Pitcairn on charges of theft by unlawful taking. Charges were filed June 16.

• Quintell Antoine, 27, of Pitcairn on charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, receiving stolen property, possession of firearm prohibited and criminal mischief. Pitcairn police filed the charges Jan. 30.

• Alexis Palermo, 21, of Freedom on charges of lending or giving firearms prohibited and willfully furnishes or exhibits false identification. Charges were filed Feb. 4.

Waived preliminary hearings

• Stephanie Short, 37, of Pitcairn on charges of driving under the influence. Pitcairn police filed the charges Nov. 22.

• Sergey Politov, 32, of Monroeville on charges of driving under the influence, accident involving damage to attended vehicle/property, illegally operating a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. Charges were filed Dec. 5.

• Daniel Rearick, 26, of New Bethlehem on charges of driving under the influence, possession of controlled substances, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. Pitcairn police filed the charges Nov. 23.

• Clarence Houser Jr., 68, of Monroeville on charges of indecent assault on a person younger than 13 years of age, endangering the welfare of children, aggravated indecent assault on a person younger than 13 years old and unlawful contact with a minor. Charges were filed Feb. 8.

• Alaina Smith, 50, of Pittsburgh on two counts of retail theft. Charges were filed Feb. 8.

• James Schmider, 66, of Pittsburgh on charges of driving under the influence and accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property. Charges were filed Dec. 9.

• Travis Kaczynski, 37, of Pitcairn on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. Pitcairn police filed the charges Feb. 13.
