STA bus drivers and staff are treated to an Appreciation Brunch at the bus garage in Trafford Dec. 21. The event was held in partnership with Gateway High School students and staff, Chik-Fil-A Miracle Mile and the Chik-Fil-A Leader Academy.

For their “Do Good December” project, a group of Gateway High School students and staff, in partnership with Chick-Fil-A Miracle Mile and the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy, served the STA bus drivers and staff an “Appreciation Brunch” Dec. 21.

The Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy is a nationwide initiative to equip high school students with leadership skills by teaching them the importance of impacting others through action with humility and service.

The students worked as a team to plan for the event and served the bus staff breakfast foods from Chick-Fil-A and cake donated from Moio’s Bakery. The event was held in a room at the bus garage decorated in bright red and white decorations, thanks to Target. Implementing their lessons on vision and values, the students also gave a a speech, honored each staff member with a gift and had a variety of raffle baskets to be given away thanks to several other local businesses’ generous donations. Serving the bus staff, who is often overlooked and underappreciated, was an opportunity for the students to think selflessly and serve humbly during the busy holiday season.

Advisers for the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy at Gateway High School are Marci Klinger, Dawn Nicolazzo and Regan Reeder.
