Gateway hires new human resources director, will vote on credit recovery program

Gateway school board last voted unanimously to approve the hire of Kevin Bringe as the human resources director at a salary of $120,000. The vote was 8-0, with Jack Bova absent.

At the meeting the board was expected to consider:

• A $40,000 settlement to resolve a special education dispute.

• A $33,750 quote from McCutcheon Enterprises, Inc. for disposal of about 30 drums of hazardous waste, according to business manager Mike Zourelias.

• A $23,176 quote from Made in the Shade’s quote for blinds at Gateway Middle School.

• A new credit recovery program for high school students who failed certain courses.

Students can take two virtual six-week courses during the winter credit recovery session. There are twenty-one courses offered.
