Happenings for week of May 2, 2022: Monroeville Public Library programs, women's gatherings
Libraries, nursery collaborate on garden program
Soil Sisters Nursery, the Braddock Carnegie Library Association and the Monroeville Public Library invite families to visit and explore the Home Plate Garden located next to Hamilton Park, 115 Hamilton Ave., Turtle Creek.
The local collaboration aims to increase garden members and volunteers at the Home Plate Garden to support initiatives including providing fresh food to seniors and low-income families in the neighborhood. At the garden are many crops that are harvested and sold at a very low cost to the public, and produce is also donated to local food pantries in the area.
Youth of all ages and adults are invited to join the upcoming-garden related activities including: Make Native Seed Balls, Germination Necklaces and Nature Bracelets, Sun Catching / Nature Wind Chimes, Sprout House, Plant a Salad Mix and D.I.Y Tea Bags.
The programs which have been scheduled to alternate between the Home Plate Garden and Monroeville Public Library in Monroeville. All are welcome. There is no fee to attend, but registration is required at www.monroevillelibrary.org.

International Women group holds spring luncheon
International Women will meet at 11 a.m. May 13 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 2310 Haymaker Road, Monroeville, for their annual spring luncheon. All members are requested to bring a dish representing their countries.
The meeting is the final one for 2021-22 year. They will resume in September.

Women’s Business Network Monroeville open house
The Monroeville Chapter of the Women’s Business Network is hosting open house events on May 11.
A getting-to-know-you virtual meeting is scheduled from 8 to 9:15 a.m., and a meeting featuring a boxed dinner will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Old Stone Church, 2700 Stroschein Road, Monroeville.
Women’s Business Network, founded in 1989, has offerings that include education series, leadership training, regional focus meetings, annual dinner, holiday breakfast, special events, speakers bureau opportunities, scholarship award, charitable service project and networking.

Baby and Me, a storytime for infants and their parents/caregivers, is planned for 10:30-11 a.m. May 5 at Monroeville Public Library, 4000 Gateway Blvd.
There will be songs and other activities at free event. Registration is recommended.
