Televisions are among the items that can be recycled for a fee at the Pennsylvania Resources Council’s Hard-to-Recycle Collection event

Hard-to-Recycle Collection scheduled for Monroeville

A Monroeville site is on the schedule for Pennsylvania Resources Council’s 2022 Hard-to-Recycle Collection campaign.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 30 at Next Tier Connect @ Pittsburgh East, 4350 Northern Pike, Suite 220.

Held in partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department, the PRC’s series of collections will enable recycling of a wide variety of items not accepted in curbside collection, such as e-waste, tires and small Freon appliances. Participants pay a fee to dispose of some materials, such as televisions and tires, while other items, including cellphones and computer towers, will be accepted for free.

International Women group holds spring luncheon

International Women will meet at 11 a.m. May 13 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 2310 Haymaker Road, Monroeville, for their annual spring luncheon. All members are requested to bring a dish representing their countries.

The meeting is the final one for 2021-22 year. They will resume in September.

Monroeville Christian Church schedules Bible school

Monroeville Christian Church, 3780 Northern Pike, will host vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:15 p.m. June 26 and 7 to 9 p.m. June 27 through 29.

Each night will feature classes for all ages, crafts, recreation and snacks.

Memorial Day car show in Delmont

The fifth annual car show at St. John’s Church in Delmont will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 30.

Featuring cars from the 1920s through today, proceeds from the event will be donated to the PA Hero Walk, the Westmoreland County Food Bank’s Military Share program, Clelian Heights and the Heinz VA Medical Center.

The fee to exhibit a car is $10. The afternoon will include a DJ, door prizes, 50/50 raffle and a variety of auction baskets.

East Suburban Citizen Advocacy to host 5K

East Suburban Citizen Advocacy will host its annual “Super Fun Run For Everyone 5K” on June 5 in Export.

Check-in for the 5K, which serves as a fundraiser for the nonprofit and helps further its mission of enhancing the lives of those with disabilities, will be at 8 a.m. by the Westmoreland Heritage Trail access in Export, by the borough’s red caboose. The race will start at 9 a.m.
