In brief: Botanical Garden Committee seeking volunteers, license to carry event and more in Monroeville, Pitcairn
The Monroeville Botanical Garden Committee is looking for volunteers that would like to help with planting and maintaining the flowerbeds in the Monroeville Community Park located on Tilbrook Road.
The schedules is as follows:
• May: Clean up the beds, plant the annuals around the gazebo and replace any lost perennials.
• June-September: Weeding and watering.
• October: Fall clean-up, pulling annuals and cutting down plants needing it.
Those interested will be responsible for providing their own trowels, garden gloves and any other equipment they feel will be helpful.

License to carry event
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office is joining the Monroeville Police Department to host a satellite license to carry event at the Monroeville Municipal Building on April 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Applicants must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Applicants should arrive with their completed application, valid PA driver’s license or ID and $20 in cash.
This event is for new and renewal applicants with Allegheny County residency. Any applications from non-Allegheny County residents will be accepted.
In addition, Project D.U.M.P. will be on-site to accept unused and expired medications. Glass bottles, liquids, syringes, inhalers/insulin or creams will not be accepted.
Women’s Business Network meetings
The Murrysville Chapter of the Women’s Business Network holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. An April meeting will take place April 22. For more information, contact Katrina Burkett at 412-856-5250.
The All Virtual Chapter holds regular meetings via Zoom on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. An April meeting will take place April 21, and guests are welcome to attend at no cost. Community cleanup
In partnership with Pick Up Pennsylvania and Waste Management, the Janie Summers Memorial Pitcairn Community Cleanup will be from 8 to 11 a.m. April 24.
There will be dumpster sites at the borough building, 582 Sixth St.; and at Fire Company No. 1, 100 S. Center Ave.
No TVs, computers or electronic devices will be accepted. Photo ID proof of Pitcairn residency is required.

Gateway school director candidate forum
Held by Allegheny Freedom Works, all candidates running for school board have been invited to attend the Gateway school director candidate forum from 2 to 4 p.m. April 11 at the Pitcairn Park Building, 609 Broadway St.
Summer employment
The Municipality of Monroeville is accepting applications for summer employment. Applications are available online at monroeville.pa.us or at the Monroeville Municipal Center at 2700 Monroeville Blvd. The deadline is April 9.
Jack Sedlack memorial cleanup
Join together with neighbors, friends and family members on April 24 at 9 a.m. for the 26th annual Jack Sedlak Memorial Clean-Up Day. Groups, families and individuals are welcome to participate. An appreciation picnic will follow the event.
