Library showcases Monroeville artist

Monroeville resident Jay Winter’s exhibition “Aphelion” will be showcased at Monroeville Public Library during July.

The public is invited to a complimentary opening reception for the artist from 6 to 8 p.m. July 8 in the library’s Elaine Biondi Gallery Space.

“Aphelion” refers to the farthest point of a celestial object from the sun. Winter, a retired geologist, explores this concept through a collection of works featuring a cohesive theme of natural elements. Employing diverse application techniques, Winter infuses the pieces with rhythm and vitality, utilizing lines and curves that extend beyond the viewer’s perspective. The deliberate arrangement of chromatic and tonal colors mirrors the stratification of sediments found in nature.
