Letter to the editor: Thank you to volunteers for clean-up day efforts in Monroeville
Dear Monroeville Residents and Clean Up Day Volunteers,
Even though we had to postpone the 25th Annual Jack Sedlak Memorial Clean Up Day from its usual late-April date until Aug. 29 because of the pandemic, we would like to thank the 230 volunteers who donated their time to clean Monroeville’s roadways and parks.
The volunteers picked up over 310 bags of litter, 10 tires and various other discarded items and debris. We also had to cancel the appreciation picnic this year, but because of our generous sponsors and prize donators, we were still able to give each volunteer a T-shirt and conduct the prize raffle remotely.
The sponsors’ support continues to make the Jack Sedlak Memorial Clean Up Day one of the largest clean-up events in Western Pennsylvania.
We had a lot of obstacles this year but were still able to make a difference thanks to the many volunteers and sponsors. Monroeville continues to impress every year in a large part to our civic pride. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Joe Sedlak,
On behalf of the Sedlak Family and the Municipality of Monroeville
