Registration is now open for Monroeville Foundation’s second annual 5K run and “CommUNITY Day,” which will include a performance by a 2019 American Idol contestant.

The Run for Your Life and Walk 5K will be held at 9 a.m. July 27 at the Monroeville Community Park West. Crunch Fitness and Forbes Hospital representatives will lead a warm-up stretch before the race at 8 a.m.

The cost is $20 until June 29 when the price increases to $25. Early registrants will also receive an event T-shirt. Event day registrations are $30.

To register for the race, visit bit.ly/2HWQ8D2.

Starting at 11 a.m. the same day, the park will host a health fair, business and vendor marketplace, kids’ activity zone, food trucks, live entertainment and “a few surprises,” according to a Monroeville Foundation news release about the day.

The event will culminate with a free concert featuring Nate Walker, a 2019 American Idol contestant.

The 19-year-old West Mifflin native was ousted after his performance of The Commodores’ “Still” in Hawaii that aired March 31 on ABC.
