‘Discover Rotary’ evening
The Rotary Club of Monroeville is holding a Discover Rotary event from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at Monroeville Public Library, 4000 Gateway Campus Blvd.
Rotary provides humanitarian efforts locally, nationally and worldwide. This is an evening of connection and to learn what Rotary and the local club are about. There is no obligation to join.
Light refreshments will be provided.

Autism expo
Autism Connection of Pittsburgh and the Jefferson Center for Autism and Neurodiversity will host the 2025 Autism Safety Expo on Oct. 17-18 in Monroeville.
The two-day event will promote safety in the home for people of all ages and stages on the autism spectrum. Topics covered will include legal safety, medical safety, community and social safety, technology and adaptive tools, caregiving and family support, and first-responder engagement strategies.
It will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 at Monroeville Volunteer Fire Company 4, 4370 Northern Pike.

Symphony East
Symphony East will welcome Duquesne University professor and professional guitarist Bill Purse as the featured performer on Oct. 20.
Purse integrates virtuoso guitar skills with state-of-the-art music technology and has performed in Broadway and Vegas shows as well as in jazz bands.
The Oct. 20 program begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public. Reservations are not required. The cost is $15 for adults. It is at the Lamplighter, 6566 William Penn Highway in Salem.

Blood drive
The Pitcairn Lions Club will host a blood drive from 1-5 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Pitcairn Park Building, 557 Broadway Ave.

Thanksgiving dinner delivery
Garden City United Methodist Church and the Turtle Creek Satellite Rotary Club will host their third annual Thanksgiving dinner delivery on Nov. 26 from 5-7 p.m. and Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Dinners can be delivered to residents in the Monroeville (15146) and Pitcairn (15140) ZIP codes.

Plum AARP
Plum AARP will hold its next meeting at noon Oct. 14 at Unity Community Church, 215 Unity Trestle Road in Plum.
Hot dogs, chips and coffee/tea will be offered for $3. The entertainment will be the Hi-Lites, performing oldies and country music.
Plum AARP is a social/service organization open to residents of Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville and surrounding communities. Newcomers are welcome to attend regular meetings, which are at noon on the second Tuesday of each month except June. AARP features a speaker or entertainment at almost all of its meetings.

Monroeville Arts Council concert
The Monroeville Arts Council will host The Pittsburgh Belairs on Oct. 19 as part of its 2025 concert series.
The performance will be from 4-6 p.m. in the auditorium at the Community College of Allegheny County’s Boyce Campus, 595 Beatty Road in Monroeville.

Super Bingo
Divine Mercy Academy will host a Super Bingo at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 25 at the academy’s Lourdes Center, 245 Azalea Drive in Monroeville. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Tips for Cops fundraiser
Off-duty police officers from Penn Hills, Wilkins, Churchill and Monroeville are trading in their uniforms for aprons to serve as waitstaff during a Tips for Cops fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Carl’s Tavern, 3386 William Penn Highway, Monroeville.
All of the tips go directly to support local food banks.
There will be a silent auction and 50-50 raffle.
Tips for Cops has raised more than $5,000 in previous years.

Food pantry
The Garden City Food Pantry will host a food distribution day from 9-11 a.m. and 6-7 p.m. Oct. 9 at 500 Laurel Drive in Monroeville.
Distributions will take place on the second Thursday of each month. Additional distribution days will be Nov. 13 and Dec. 11.

Association of University People
The Association of University People invites potential new members to join them at an event.
The association invites singles aged 50 and older, who are four-year college graduates, to join them for activities and to meet new people. Activities include picnics, monthly dinners, a book group and meetups at local concerts and wineries.

Food distribution
A free food distribution day will take place each month at Gateway High School.
Distribution will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the high school, 3000 Gateway Campus Blvd. in Monroeville. Attendees can line up through the school parking lot.
Identification is not required.
The distributions provide food aid to nearly 800 families each month, according to organizer and school board member Valerie Warning.
School district seeks sponsorships
Gateway School District is seeking sponsors for numerous facilities throughout the district.
