‘Good As New’ book sale set
The 27th annual “Good As New” used book sale will be held April 21-23 at Monroeville United Methodist Church, 219 Center Road.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday.
A variety of fiction, nonfiction and children’s books will be available. Gently used puzzles and board games will also be for sale. Items may be purchased individually or $10 for a brown paper bag, which is provided.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to support local, national and international mission projects. For more information, call the church at 412-372-7474.
Candidate meet and greet
Monroeville voters are invited to a candidate meet and greet on April 17 with two municipal council candidates and four Gateway School Board candidates.
The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at La Barbe Restaurant, 4397 Old William Penn Highway, Monroeville.
The council candidates are Tim Lionelli, Ward 2, and William Krut, Ward 4. The Gateway candidates are incumbent John Ritter, George Lapcevich, Kelly Matrazzo and Cheryl Boise.
The La Barbe kitchen will be closed, but soft drinks and snacks will be available.
Consignment sale set
Families looking to save money on back-to-school shopping or make money through consignments can do both at the Monroeville Convention Center.
Just Between Friends Pittsburgh East brings its consignment sale back to 209 Mall Blvd. from 2 to 9 p.m. April 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 21, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. April 22, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 23. Tickets range between $5 and $25, depending on type of admission.
Items available include children’s clothing from infant through teen sizes, maternity clothing, kid furnishings and room decor, arts and crafts supplies, books, games, strollers, sporting goods and more.

Mini golf at library for fundraiser
Join Monroeville Public Library for a custom-designed, 18-hole miniature golf course that will be set up throughout the library during a two-day fundraiser.
Friday Fun night for adults 21 and older is scheduled for 5 to 9:30 on April 14. With the purchase of a $35 ticket, attendees will receive unlimited play and complimentary food and beverages. Ticket quantities are limited. Raffles and 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase.
Family Fun day for all ages is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. April 15. Tickets are $5 per person and free for children under 3. In addition to community play, food and raffles will be available for purchase.

Gun show scheduled
Showmasters Gun Show returns to the Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 15 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16.
Admission is $11. Children younger than 12 get in for free. More information is available at showmastersgunshows.com.
‘200 Years of Brewing’ program
Monroeville Public Library welcomes Richard Ober, lead author of “200 Years of Brewing in Allegheny County,” for a program scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 8.
The Ober Brewery featured on the book’s cover is Richard’s family business and one of many German breweries once located in the Allegheny City/Manchester area of Pittsburgh. In addition to Allegheny County’s brewing history, Ober will discuss the historical process to make and flavor beers using fermentation and local ingredients.

Farm market moving
The Monroeville Lions Farmer’s Market is moving to the Monroeville Mall between Dick’s Sporting Goods and Best Buy. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays from May 13 through Nov. 18.
The previous location was Monroeville Community Park West, where traffic and parking concerns prompted the relocation.
Symphony East program
The public is invited to attend the Symphony East Franklin Regional High School 2023 spring musical highlights event.
Cast members will reprise popular scenes from “Grease.” The students will perform beginning at 1 p.m. April 17 in the ballroom at the Lamplighter Restaurant in Delmont.
Symphony East, recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, is an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Symphony Association. Proceeds from the “Grease” event support the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Tea fundraiser set
Monroeville Public Library presents a very important date with an “Alice in Wonderland”-themed tea fundraiser.
The event is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. June 4 in the Lourdes Center at Christ the Divine Shepherd Monroeville campus, 245 Azalea Drive.
A $35 donation includes tea sandwiches, beverages, cookie table, activities and more. Raffle basket tickets and 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase.

PALS events
Plum Area Ladies Society is a service /social club open to women from Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville, and surrounding communities.
The annual banquet will be held at Jaden’s II in Monroeville from 2-6 p.m. May 13.
The last Ladies Day Out will be a flower- planting and wine and food sampling at Bygone Wines in Plum at 2 p.m. April 22. Call 412-744-4613 to reserve your space. The $35 charge will include beautiful flowers and tin, plus instructions on planting.
