Monroeville Public Library’s seventh annual Fun Fest on Aug. 23. featured food booths, games, music and activities.

A petting zoo, balloon artists, inflatable rides and bounce houses, hair tinsel, a D.J. and a magician, painting, and the Gateway High School Robotics Club were just some of the returning favorites.

Vendor and community booths included Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hair Fairies, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Sen. Nick Pisciotanno’s office, Monroeville Rotary, UPMC East, Friends of the Monroeville Public Library, Monroeville Historical Society, Crossroads Presbyterian Church, Garden City Food Pantry, Independent Electrical Contractors Foundation and several others.

This year, Elephant and Piggie — from Mo Williams’ award-winning children’s book series of the same name – made a special appearance.

“Each year, we not only bring back favorite activities and games to the event, but we also have new and exciting additions,” head of public relations Alice Rathjen said.

Gold level sponsors included UPMC East and Disaster Restoration Services.

“We are so appreciative of everyone who contributes to our fundraising efforts, which helps support Fun Fest,” Rathjen said. “As well as programming for adults, teens, children and families year-round.”

“Connecting people is really the main mission of Monroeville Public Library,” assistant director of public services Pamela Bodziock said. “We’re always looking for ways to connect people to new opportunities, new experiences and resources – and, most importantly, to their community.”
