Monroeville library to host entrepreneurship program
Monroeville Public Library will host a free entrepreneurship program, a three-part series for anyone interested in starting their own business.
In this career development program, presenter Shawn McCune will share his enterprise journey which has developed into several successful businesses, including Enlightened Property Administration, Envisioned Environments and The Castle.
According to Pam Barroso, reference and instruction librarian, this program is for an adult audience, but teens who are serious about exploring their career options would benefit from attending.
The first class will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on March 21 in person at the library’s Johnna’s Room; however, attendees can join virtually. Participants will learn how McCune got his start, receive advice on building a successful business and key practices necessary for success. Attendees will also be introduced to library resources that support business entrepreneurship.
“We are excited to have Shawn at the library providing this unique networking environment, and to share library resources in this field for career development,” Barroso said.
In the past 20 years, McCune has worked in customer service, accounting, sales, marketing, management and training. The study of business has been a lifelong interest for McCune, who purchased his first rental property at the age of 27. Passing business skills on to others is one of his passions.
The library will host two followup presentations: McCune will discuss running a landscape business from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on April 8 and real estate rental from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on May 9.
Preregistration is not required but highly recommended. Participants can attend any or all of the presentations but would need to register separately. A Zoom link will be available as a remote viewing option.
To register, call the library at 412-372-0500 or visit at www.monroevillelibrary.org. The library is located at 4000 Gateway Campus Blvd.
