Monroeville Recreation Department is once again hosting Camp Chipawee, a summer camp designed for residents with special needs. The camp provides recreation and leisure activities, including arts and crafts, games, swimming and field trips. Campers learn to interact with others in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Adam Mrusek, Matty Sheldon, counselor Brandy White and Matt Kolat participate in a group game.

Children and adults with mental and physical disabilities participated in Monroeville’s second week of Camp Chipawee from June 17-21.

There are six week-long sessions through Aug. 2. Each day is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Monroeville United Methodist Church on Center Road.

Activities include field trips to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, walks through a residential neighborhood and games. The week is capped with a trip to the Monroeville Community Pool.
