Monroeville police are urging people who live along Haymaker Road to lock their cars after two theft reports in one night.

Police chief Doug Cole said a car on the 2100 block of Haymaker Road and another on Trotwood Drive had small amounts of money taken out of them during the early morning hours of June 13. He said both cars were unlocked.

“Make sure you lock your vehicle and if you see anyone suspicious in the evening hours, or any hour, please notify the police,” he said.

Cole said these kinds of thefts have “picked up a little” in recent days, as other people throughout the municipality have called the police department reporting they think their cars had been rummaged through.

Those people, he said, did not want to file a police report.
