Happy New Year! New Year celebrations continued at the Monroeville Public Library with the ringing in of the Lunar New Year, or Chinese New Year, on Jan. 25. Lunar New Year is celebrated during the second new moon after the winter solstice, usually between Jan. 21 and Feb. 20 on the Gregorian calendar. This year is the Year of the Rat. The highlight of the library celebration was the dragon parade through the library bookstacks. Alice Rathjen, the library’s public relations contractor, leads the dragon parade.
