Monroeville police are investigating separate crashes Thursday that both resulted in two people being sent to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Chief Doug Cole said the first wreck took place along James Street at Speelman Lane near the Monroeville Mall around 12:15 p.m.

Officers directed traffic around the crash site as EMS tended to the injured.

Emergency responders cleared the area around 1 p.m.

Cole said the second crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. along William Penn Highway at Center Road.

Vehicles were towed and two people were transported to UPMC East hospital. Roads were reopened in less than two hours.

Cole said the investigations are still ongoing. No other injuries were reported.
