A Pitcairn man is accused of robbing a Burger King in Monroeville at gunpoint on Sunday and using a stun device on employees, according to a criminal complaint.
Monroeville police said Yamin Harris, 30, entered a Burger King along Broadway Boulevard through the back employee entrance on Sunday evening, after workers had closed the main lobby.
Harris had a gun in one hand and a Taser or long electric prod device in the other, the complaint said. He’s accused of using it on “at least two employees” and pointing the gun at a manager.
The report said Harris forced a manager into the office and demanded money from the safe, then demanded the other employees grab garbage bags for him to put the cash in. He then left out the back door and drove away after taking less than $1,000 from the restaurant.
After leaving the Burger King, the complaint said Harris led police on a chase in a car, and he eventually jumped from the passenger side of the vehicle and ran. He was later found in Pitcairn and taken into custody. The car was taken to the Monroeville Police Station Garage.
After obtaining a search warrant, Pennsylvania State Police said they found $805 in cash, a loaded gun, a cattle prod, a black mask and gloves inside the vehicle.
Harris is facing two dozen charges, including robbery, simple assault, fleeing from police and terroristic threats.
He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 6.
