Portion of Northern Pike in Monroeville to close Monday
Northern Pike in Monroeville will be closed starting Monday between Abers Creek Road and Valerie Circle to repair a landslide.
PennDOT officials said the closure would begin at 9 a.m. weather permitting. Monroeville officials expect the $1.36 million project to last through June 29, depending on the weather, according to a post on its website.
All traffic will be detoured.
The posted detour from Northern Pike west of the closure is as follows:
• Turn right from Northern Pike onto Route 48 (Mosside Boulevard);
• Turn right onto eastbound Route 22 (William Penn Highway);
• Follow Route 22 back to Northern Pike.
Traffic east of the closure would use the same detour in the opposite direction, PennDOT officials said.
Abers Creek Road will also close at Northern Pike.
Local traffic will be permitted on Abers Creek Road but other motorists will be detoured.
Abers Creek Road detour is as follows:
• Turn onto Cavitt Road from Abers Creek Road;
• Turn left onto Alpine Village Drive;
• Turn left onto Route Route 22 (William Penn Highway).
The left-hand turn lane on westbound Route 22 to Northern Pike will remain open to allow motorists to access Resolutions Med Spa and UPMC Orthopedic Specialists.
However, no through traffic will be permitted on Northern Pike beyond the businesses.
PennDOT officials said this project is part of critical work that continues statewide addressing safety needs and work needed to eliminate roadway restrictions that could impede the ability for the movement of life sustaining goods and services. Normal highway and bridge construction projects in Pennsylvania remain paused as part of the commonwealth’s efforts to mitigate the spread of covid-19.
