Steel City Con shifts summer show dates to August
The popular Steel City Con is shifting its summer show dates to mid-August amid continued health and safety measures during the covid-19 pandemic.
The show will move from June to Aug. 14-16.
“We did not take this difficult decision lightly knowing that our vendors as small businesses are struggling to survive through this unprecedented situation,” organizers posted to their Facebook page. “Steel City Con now has additional time to put further sanitation and safety procedures in place ensuring a safe experience.”
As Allegheny County officials and businesses prepare to move into the state-designated “yellow phase” of reopening, events remain limited to no more than 25 people, and plans have not been announced for a move into the “green phase.”
For those who cannot attend the new date, tickets will be honored at a future 2020 (tentatively scheduled for Dec. 4-6) or 2021 Steel City Con event.
“For your convenience, this is an automated process, and you don’t need to email us or do anything further,” the post reads. “At this time, all VIP packages and pre-sold autographs will be transferred. In the event these celebrities will not be able to make the August event, you will be fully refunded.”
All celebrity guests for the June show were able to move to the new August dates, with the exception of Jason Faunt and David Barclay, who will join Kane Hodder and Julian Glover at the December show. In addition Freddie Prinze Jr., John Carroll Lynch and Jon Lovitz, who originally could not make the June event, have been added back to the line-up for the new dates.
“Please be patient with us as we work through all the details, and we will update you regularly if plans change for the next event,” organizers wrote.
