Theft, firearms cases recently handled by Judge Herbst in Monroeville

Monroeville District Court Judge Jeffrey Herbst handled these cases recently. Defendants will have court dates set in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Charges were filed by Monroeville police unless otherwise noted.

Held for court

• Mark Cessna, 44, of Homer City on charges of possession of controlled substances, driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, criminal use of a communication facility and two counts of possession of controlled substances. Penn Hills police filed the charges May 22.

• Dezmon Lewis, 18, of Wilkinsburg on charges of simple assault, defiant trespass and two counts of resisting arrest. Charges were filed Sept. 21.

Waived preliminary hearings

• Dylan Pierce, 20, of Plum on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and tampering with physical evidence. Charges were filed April 14.

Pierce went before the judge on another case. He waived a preliminary hearing on charges of flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing or attempting to elude officer, driving without a license, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, four counts of duties at stop signs, two counts of disorderly conduct, two counts of resisting arrest and four counts of recklessly endangering another person. Charges were filed Sept. 16.

• Ryan Marshall Jr., 23, of McKeesport on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and riot. Charges were filed June 24.

• Thomas Moeller, 60, of Pittsburgh on charges of retail theft. Charges were filed Sept. 16.
