Moon Area High School and middle school will be closed for about a week after someone from the high school tested positive for covid-19, Superintendent Barry J. Balaski announced Thursday.

Balaski posted the message on the front page of the district’s website, moonarea.net.

Students from both schools will continue learning online Friday through Nov. 5.

Elementary school students will continue classes in the in-person/hybrid model.

“We will reevaluate the data on Nov. 3 and decide if we will be able to proceed as planned,” Balaski wrote.

Moon Area High School has seven active student covid-19 cases, according to the district’s covid-19 dashboard.

Cased include three in the high school, three in the middle school and one at Bon Meade Elementary School.
