Motorists should expect intermittent traffic stoppages Wednesday morning on the Parkway East (Interstate 376) westbound, near the entrance of the Squirrel Hill tunnel, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said in a news release.

The stoppages — lasting about 15 minutes or less — are expected to take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., during which beams will be delivered to the I-376 Commercial Street Bridge replacement project site.

Traffic interruptions will allow for delivery trucks to cross the lanes into the work area located in the plaza outside the suburban side of Squirrel Hill Tunnel.

“The arrival time is contingent depending on the travel distance, route traffic, and unforeseen obstacles. Motorists should expect delays,” the release said.

The $95 million Commercial Street Bridge replacement project is anticipated to conclude in the summer of 2027.

Updates can be found on the Commercial Street Bridge webpage.
