Morning Roundup: 17-year-old found fatally shot in Carrick

Pittsburgh police said a 17-year-old boy was found fatally shot late Monday night in Carrick.

17-year-old boy killed in Carrick shooting

Pittsburgh police said a 17-year-old was fatally shot Monday night in a house across the street from Carrick High School.

According to a Pittsburgh Public Safety report, police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired. At 10:01 p.m., units arrived at the 100 block of Parkfield Street and found 17-year-old Damonte Hardrick inside a residence with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tribune-Review news partner WPXI reports first responders found Hardrick inside a bedroom. WPXI reports he had been hit once, but police said at least two shots were fired.

Officials initially told WPXI that five people were in the house at the time of the shooting, but have since updated that to seven people.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are investigating.

Pittsburgh vegan restaurant Onion Maiden to close in April

According to a Facebook post, the vegan restaurant Onion Maiden, in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood, will be closing its doors in April.

In the post, Onion Maiden said, “Long story short, normal service will continue through March, but after that, who knows. Could be a brief hiatus, could be the conclusion.”

The post also said the restaurant will continue to do pop ups and events.
