3 injured in 2-vehicle crash on North Side

A two-vehicle crash on the North Side of Pittsburgh has left three people injured, one in critical condition.

A report from Pittsburgh Public Safety said the crash occurred at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Sandusky and East General Robinson streets. After the vehicles collided, one of them struck a light pole, trapping the driver and passenger in the wreckage the report said.

The trapped victims were transported to a nearby hospital, with the driver in critical condition and the passenger in moderate condition.

The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Police are investigating the crash.

Police say gun threats made over FaceTime call

Pittsburgh police said a woman made threats with a gun over a FaceTime call Thursday.

Officers from Zone 5 responded about 8:15 p.m. to reported threats made with a firearm from a vehicle.

Officers said they located the parked vehicle and pursued it after it pulled away at a high rate of speed, eventually crashing at North Negley and Margaretta streets. Police said a juvenile female ran from the vehicle and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. She was transported to the hospital for evaluation pending arrest.

Police said one officer suffered ankle and wrist injuries during the foot pursuit and was treated at the hospital.

Three other occupants of the vehicle, which police said was found to be stolen, were questioned and released at the scene. Medics transported two of them to the hospital for complaints of minor pain.

Police are investigating.

Out of control car slams into cars, apartment building

Three vehicles and an apartment building were damaged early Thursday morning by an out of control vehicle on Apple Street, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

Officers from Zone 5 investigated reports of a GMC vehicle striking cars along Apple Street in the Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Police said the GMC sideswiped a vehicle, continued down the street where it hit another vehicle, spun it around a telephone pole and into the porch of an apartment building, damaging the bricks and taking out a gas meter.

Police said the GMC continued on and rammed into a truck. At that point, police said, the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire also responded to the scene.

State police investigate trooper assault

Pennsylvania State Police in Pittsburgh are investigating an incident in which a burgundy Jeep Grand Cherokee drove into the side of a marked patrol car then fled from the scene, almost hitting a trooper.

According to state police, the incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Friday, when about 50 vehicles were on the Fort Pitt Bridge performing burnouts and drag racing. Police said when troopers arrived on the scene, that’s when the Grand Cherokee drove into the patrol car. Troopers were able to locate the Grand Cherokee near Bridgeville with the help of the South Fayette Police Department.

The troopers in the struck patrol car were being evaluated for injury.
