5-year Fayette fugitive arrested in West Virginia

Craig Owen David, a Fayette County man who’s been on the run from police for nearly five years, was arrested Wednesday morning in Morgantown, W.Va.

David, 47, was declared a fugitive in 2020 after failing to show for a pre-trial conference on a case involving a firearms charge filed by Jefferson Hills police, according to Mike Manko, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

This week, deputies developed information that David was in the Morgantown area, and was residing in an apartment on Brookhaven Road, Manko said.

Deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office located and identified David and he was taken into custody without incident shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

He was taken to the North Central Regional Jail in West Virginia where he will remain pending extradition back to the Allegheny County Jail, Manko said.
