Here are some of the latest news items from this morning, Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025:

No injuries reported in Upper St. Clair house fire

Firefighters from two counties were dispatched to a house fire early Wednesday morning in Upper St. Clair.

Crews from Allegheny and Washington counties responded to a report of the blaze shortly after 4:30 a.m. on the 1400 block of Old Meadow Road.

Tri Community South EMS officials said no one was transported from the scene, and that crews had the fire under control but were still looking for hot spots as of 7 a.m.

North Hills power outages

A little over 600 Duquesne Light customers are without power Wednesday morning, the company reported.

A thin strip of the company’s service area, stretching from southeast Ross into Pittsburgh’s Morningside neighborhood and across small sections of McKnight Road, Babcock Boulevard, Perry Highway and Butler and Woodbine street, is affected by the outage.

Via their website, Duquesne Light reports crews are en route to the scene and estimates that power could be restored by 9 a.m.

Road to the Pittsburgh Marathon

To start gearing up for the 2026 Pittsburgh Marathon, race officials will host a block party 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday.

After all, there are just 262 days to go until the race.

The party will take place outside Mike’s Beer Bar at 110 Federal St. across from PNC Park on the city’s North Shore. A 5K and 1-mile run/walk will take place at 6 p.m.

The evening will also include a DJ, photo opportunities, games, giveaways, with the first 100 attendees receiving a free item.
