Peoples Gas Holiday Market set to open in new location
Pittsburgh’s annual Peoples Gas Holiday Market opens Friday in a new location, in the city’s Cultural District.
Visitors will be able to browse offerings of local and international artisans beginning at 11 a.m. daily through Dec. 24 — with the market closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Vendors will be grouped at: Cultural Trust Oasis, 139 Seventh St.; the Benedum lot, 641 Penn Ave.; and Katz Plaza, 685 Penn Ave.
Now in its 14th season, the market features wooden chalet stands and a European flavor inspired by traditional Christmas markets in Germany.
The holiday market’s usual location, in Market Square, is unavailable due to renovations. The space is undergoing a facelift in preparation for the city’s hosting of the NFL Draft in the spring.
Through Dec. 18, the market will close at 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, at 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and at 6 p.m. Sundays. It will have some extended hours during its final week.
