Police recover church bell stolen from Squirrel Hill
A 2,000-pound church bell that Pittsburgh police said was stolen from Squirrel Hill has been recovered.
Police said they recovered the bell early Wednesday morning along Parkwood Road in the Pittsburgh’s St. Clair neighborhood.
The early-20th century bronze bell, belonging to Brown Ames Church, was stolen earlier this month from the Turner Cemetery.
Murrysville crews respond to Golden Mile Highway crash
A two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:18 a.m. Wednesday near Dairy Queen on Golden Mile Highway in Murrysville.
Murrysville Police and EMS responded and were treating one person involved for injuries.
No further details were available Wednesday morning.
Consumer alert issued for Popeye’s in Wilkins Township
Citing multiple health code violations, the Allegheny County Health Department last week issued a consumer alert for the Popeye’s location in Wilkins Township.
According to the Feb. 10 report, the restaurant had an active roof leak above food storage and ware-washing areas, and a lack of proper sanitization of food contact surfaces. In the inspection report, the restaurant was also flagged for “low risk” violations including damaged ceiling tiles and a floor drain left uncovered that was emitting a “sewer-like odor.”
The Health Department will update its website when the alert is lifted.
