Here are some of the latest news items from this morning, Tuesday, Oct. 14:

Police say man fired shots at Braddock Hills bar

An East Pittsburgh man was being held Tuesday without bail in the Allegheny County Jail after he allegedly fired multiple shots at an area bar after the bartender asked him to leave.

Police said Evan Robinson, 33, entered J Cats Bar & Grill in Braddock Hills around 8 p.m. Saturday, according to a criminal complaint in the case. After drinking at least three rounds of alcohol, Robinson appeared “heavily intoxicated.”

When a bartender asked Robinson to leave, Robinson lifted his shirt and exposed a gun, the complaint said. He then went outside and fired multiple gunshots at the business, including at least three shots after he began to leave the parking lot in a gray SUV.

No injuries were reported.

Police said they recovered 11 bullet casings at the scene and found six bullet holes in the front of the Wilkins Avenue bar.

Robinson was arrested several hours later at a club in Braddock, the complaint said. He faces six charges, including two felony counts of aggravated assault.

Robinson cannot legally carry or own a gun because he is a convicted felon, Allegheny County Police said in the complaint. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and firearms counts in 2017 and 2018, court records show.

The alleged shooter was arraigned Sunday, court records show. A judge denied his bail, writing in records that “no condition or set of conditions can ensure public safety.”

His preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 22.

Robinson’s attorney was not listed Tuesday in court records. The Allegheny County Public Defenders Office, which previously represented Robinson, did not return a phone call or email Tuesday seeking comment.

Pittsburgh to pick up yard debris

Pittsburgh officials Monday announced plans to conduct yard debris pickups next month.

Curbside collection of debris including tree branches, leaves, grass and pumpkins will take place Nov. 8, city spokeswoman Olga George said in a post online.

Debris must be placed curbside before 6 a.m. that Saturday, George said. Yard debris must be placed in brown paper bags and cannot weigh more than 35 pounds. Branches must be less than 5 feet long and bundled with natural fiber, twine or rope.

The city will not collect waste such as plastic bags, metals, rocks or bricks, dirt or glass items during the pickup.

There also are three sites in Pittsburgh — in Homewood, Hazelwood and West End — where residents can dispose of yard debris, George said.
