Road closures for Pittsburgh Turkey Trot
P3R is expecting to host more than 8,000 participants from all over the country and world during its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot.
According to the P3R app, this week’s YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Turkey Trot will be the 35th annual event the organization has hosted. Ahead of the event, various road closures have been announced.
Races include the 5-mile, the 5K, the 1-Mile Family Fun Run, and the Double Gobble, which consists of competing in both the 5K and the 5-mile. The 5-mile and Double Gobbler will both start at 7:30 a.m. The 5K and 1-Mile Family Fun Run will follow at 8:30 a.m and 9:30 a.m. respectively.
All races will start on West General Robinson Street and will finish on North Shore Drive near PNC Park.
Road closures for the races will be in effect starting at 6:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning and are expected to be lifted by 11 a.m. that day.
On the North Shore and on the North Side, roads that will be closed include parts of the course on the Roberto Clemente Bridge, on the Andy Warhol Bridge, on River Avenue and several areas surrounding Allegheny Commons Park.
Parking restrictions will begin at 4:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning for roads included in the race routes.
Multi-vehicle crash in Homewood North
Emergency services reported to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash in Pittsburgh’s Homewood North neighborhood.
According to TribLive news partner WTAE, the crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Sterrett Street and Frankstown Avenue. Police, fire and EMS units were on scene.
Injuries were not immediately known.
Pittsburgh Light Up Night EMS statistics
Pittsburgh Public Safety said their authority members were among thousands of attendees at Pittsburgh’s 64th annual Light Up Night on Nov. 22.
Three paramedic motorcycles, two paramedic ambulances, an EMS division chief, and an additional River Rescue Boat with two paramedic master divers and a Pittsburgh Police Boat Operator were on site alongside public safety partners, Public Safety said in a release. There were 10 total paramedics on-site.
During the event, paramedics were called to provide rapid advanced life support to medical emergencies from minor trauma, to seizures and a patient in cardiac arrest. Public Safety said 21 people were treated and released during the event. There were 18 911 calls for service, Public Safety said.
Ambulances transported seriously ill patients to area hospitals and provided first aid at their posts. Police said there were eight hospital transports throughout the night.
