Suspect arrested in connection with Homestead shooting
Allegheny County Police on Monday arrested Evan Hughes, 60, of Wilkinsburg in connection with a shooting in Homestead.
On Jan. 17, police responded to a 911 report of a shooting in the 1000 block of West Street around 4:20 a.m.
First responders found an adult man with a single gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Detectives determined a man had broken into a West Street house by kicking in the side door. Police said the suspect got into an altercation with the victim, during which a single gunshot was fired, hitting the victim in the back.
Using surveillance video and witness interviews, police said they identified Hughes as the suspect.
He faces multiple charges including aggravated assault and burglary.
Fire breaks out at Bethel Park home
A house fire broke out early Tuesday morning in Bethel Park.
The fire was reported just after 2:30 a.m. along Pudding Stone Lane, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
County 911 dispatchers said no one had been taken to the hospital from the scene. Officials told WTAE a family was able to get out of the home.

Officials could not provide information on how the blaze began.
1 injured in crash over hillside in Beechview
One person was injured after crashing his vehicle over a hillside Monday morning in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood.
First responders were called to Banksville Road just before 7:30 a.m. for a vehicle with a person trapped inside.
EMS, Police, and Fire responded to Banksville Rd. for a vehicle over a hillside and one person trapped inside.
EMS crews removed the roof of the vehicle to extricate the male who was pinned inside.

Officials said the driver, who officials did not identify, was traveling on Crane Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, crashed through a barrier and landed on the hill close to Banksville Road.
EMS crews removed the roof of the vehicle to rescue the man pinned inside.
Medics transported him to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
