North Side transformer fire shuts down power
A transformer on Pittsburgh’s North Side caught fire Tuesday night, causing damage to adjacent homes and shutting down power throughout the neighborhood.
The fire started around 10 p.m. in the 1500 block of Buena Vista Street and lasted about an hour.
Pittsburgh Police and Pittsburgh Fire Department responded to the scene.
Residents in the area reported power was lost after the transformer caught fire, but that was eventually restored.
Duquesne Light is reporting no widespread power outages as of early Wednesday morning.
2 pulled from wreckage of crash on McKnight Road
A two-vehicle crash in Ross Township shut down McKnight Road in both directions for several hours overnight Tuesday.
The crash happened around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of McKnight Road and Siebert Road, near the entrance of North Hills Village Mall.
Two people were pulled from the wreckage, but their conditions were not immediately available, according to Tribune-Review news partner WTAE.
McKnight Road was reopened early Wednesday morning.
