TSA agent accused of theft at Pittsburgh airport
A Transportation Security Administration agent is accused of stealing money from a passenger during a screening process Wednesday afternoon at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Allegheny County Police said the suspect is Richard Bruce, 39.
Police told TribLive news partner WTAE that Bruce will be charged via summons with misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. The amount of money involved wasn’t disclosed.
A TSA spokesperson told WTAE it is cooperating with law enforcement authorities and that the agent has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. TSA said it could not provide additional details because of the ongoing investigation.
”TSA holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, and we do not tolerate behavior that violates these standards or the public’s trust,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

JC Penney closing store at Beaver Valley Mall
The JC Penney store at the Beaver Valley Mall is set to close this coming fall, the retailer said on Friday.
Word of the store’s fate was revealed earlier this week in a post on the mall’s Facebook page.
The post indicates a closing sale is underway, with prices reduced by 20% or more.
“Regretfully, we are unable to continue our current lease terms for this store location and have been unable to find another suitable location in the market,” JC Penney said in a statement.
Closure of the store had been proposed in 2020 but was averted.
The retail chain has other area stores in Westmoreland, Monroeville and Ross Park malls and The Mall at Robinson.
