Woman critical after being hit by a car in South Side
A woman in her late 70s was hit by a car Tuesday while crossing the street in Pittsburgh’s South Side Flats neighborhood.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Sidney and South 28th streets, public safety officials said.
Medics took the woman to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver remained on the scene, officials said.
Water main break shuts down East Carson
A large water main break closed inbound lanes Wednesday morning on East Carson Street in Pittsburgh’s South Side.
Pittsburgh Water said contractors are repairing a water main near the Birmingham Bridge at the intersection of East Carson and South 22nd streets.
Pittsburgh public safety officials asked drivers to avoid the area and warned that additional closures are expected.
Police locate vehicle suspected of hit-and-run
Pittsburgh police said they have found a vehicle they suspect was involved in a hit-and-run that injured a cyclist Tuesday.
A bicyclist — identified as a man in his late 60s — was struck by a car around 6:50 a.m. at Bennett Street and North Homewood Avenue in the city’s Homewood South neighborhood.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, public safety officials said.
Police reviewed video footage of a vehicle hitting the cyclist and fleeing the area. Public safety officials said they were looking for a silver 2011 Hyundai Elantra.
An investigation is ongoing.
$1 million lottery ticket sold at Indiana County Sheetz
A winning $1 million lottery ticket was sold at a Sheetz in Indiana County.
According to the Pennsylvania Lottery, the lucky Millionaire Loading Scratch-Off was sold at the Sheetz on Ben Franklin Road in White Township. The Sheetz will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The $20 game has a top prize of $1 million.
Scratch-offs are distributed at random, so the Pennsylvania Lottery and retailers selling the tickets don’t know where winning tickets will be purchased.
1 injured in Aliquippa stabbing
One person was taken to the hospital early Wednesday morning after a stabbing in Aliquippa, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.
The incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. on Superior Avenue, according to WTAE.
1 taken to hospital after Wilkins wreck
One person was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a vehicle went over a hillside in Wilkins Township, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.
The crash happened off the 3700 block of Old William Penn Highway around 4:10 a.m.
Crews were working to remove the vehicle from the hillside, WTAE reported.
