Rail service to North Shore halted this weekend for repairs
Riders will not be able to take rail transit from Downtown Pittsburgh to the North Shore this weekend because of the continuation of a concrete repair project, a Pittsburgh Regional Transit spokesman said.
Beginning around 8:30 p.m. Friday and continuing through 4:30 a.m. Monday, Pittsburgh Regional Transit will replace rail service to the North Shore with shuttle buses from Penn Station, which is located near Pittsburgh’s Amtrak station. Shuttle buses will serve the Wood Street, Gateway, North Side and Allegheny stations, said Adam Brandolph, a Pittsburgh Regional Transit spokesman.
The First Avenue and Steel Plaza stations will not be affected by the work. Penn Station, a seldom-used station about 400 yards from Steel Plaza along the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway, will be the last stop Downtown, Brandolph said.
