Delmont has three open council seats and only two people interested in filling them.

Incumbent Republican Becky Matesevac and newcomer Dennis Urban, husband of Delmont Mayor Alyce Urban, are the only two candidates standing in the May 21 primary election.

That means a reasonably strong write-in candidate could become the next borough council representative.

County elections Director Beth Lechman said as long as a write-in candidate receives at least 10 votes in the primary, they will be added to November’s general election ballot.

Incumbent council members Ann Lantz and David Piper did not file for re-election.
