Hills Church in Murrysville will host 'Christmas in Germany' concert
Over the summer, Masterworks Concert Chorale Director Snezana Lazich fell in love with a piece by one of her favorite composers.
“I found Beethoven’s ‘Mass in C,’ and it has such beautiful moments in it,” Lazich said.
The 40 members of the MCC, along with a 15-piece orchestra of local musicians will bring those moments to life Dec. 14 at “Christmas In Germany,” an MCC concert at Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Murrysville.
“Beethoven is one of my favorite composers, and because he’s German, we thought why not bring it to the Christmas concert?” Lazich said.
The concert will also feature German holiday carols sung in English.
Last year the MCC’s holiday concert was “Christmas in France,” and in 2017 the chorale had a “Royal Christmas.” When it came to this year’s centerpiece, Lazich wanted to switch things up.
“I didn’t want to do Mendelssohn or things from the past that we’d already done,” Lazich said. “In the ‘Mass in C,’ the kyrie that opens it up is just so angelic, and the Gloria has such big, beautiful huge parts.”
“Christmas in Germany” will be at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 14 at the church, 3618 Hills Church Road in Murrysville.
Tickets are $15 and can be ordered online at TalentShadows.events or by calling 412-874-7514.
