Murrysville area events: Export festival leads long list of activities
Ethnic Food & Music Festival set
The annual Export Ethnic Food & Music Festival will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 21 along Washington Avenue in the borough’s downtown area, with a day of live music, food and fun.
There is no cost to attend, and on-site parking is available for a small fee. A children’s area will be open from noon to 4 p.m. with face painting, a bounce house and train ride. The Export caboose will be open from noon to 4 p.m.
The band schedule is:
• Main stage: DeStella Dance Studio at 12:15 p.m., Jack Tady at 1 p.m., the Cash Out Show at 3:30 p.m., the Agway Shoplifters at 5:30 p.m., and Jerry B. and the Bone Tones at 7:30 p.m.
• East End stage: Kal & Moore at 1 p.m., Brothers Kelly at 3 p.m., Dave Stout at 5 p.m.

First Presbyterian will hold annual tag sale
The First Presbyterian Church of Murrysville, 3202 North Hills Road, will host its 50th annual tag sale Sept. 24-25.
All profits will go toward the church’s mission commitments.

Delmont appraisal event rescheduled
The Delmont Historical Society invites the community to bring their antiques to “For What It’s Worth,” an appraisal event set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Delmont Public Library, 75 School St.
Melissa Herman of Salem Antiquities and Rich Jaffe of Westmoreland Rare Coins will serve as guest appraisers. The cost to have one item appraised is $10, or $15 for two items. Large items can be appraised using detailed photos with identifiable makers’ marks, company names or manufacture dates.

In addition, the society will host a “Discover Old Delmont Day,” with a display of photos, documents and historical artifacts from the library.
There is no cost to attend.
Grent applicants sought
The Community Foundation of Murrysville, Export and Delmont is accepting applications from nonprofit groups for ideas and initiatives to enrich the community.
Grants in the range of several hundred dollars will be awarded to organizations demonstrating a need for small sums to make a significant, long-term positive impact on the community.

Peach festival planned
The Delmont Presbyterian Women’s Association will host its annual Peach Festival from 4-7 p.m. Aug. 21 at the church, 101 Church St.
Attendees can purchase a meal which includes fresh peach dessert, or can purchase the dessert separately. Tickets will be available at the door.

Dog club to host charity golf tournament
The Great Pyrenees Club of Western Pennsylvania will host its annual charity golf tournament on Aug. 30.
It will take place at the Edgewood Country Club, 100 Churchill Road in Churchill.
The cost is $195 per golfer, or $65 for dinner only. The full price includes golfing, cart, beer, snacks, water and soda on the course, a golfer “goodie bag,” event t-shirt, lunch, dinner, door prizes, skill contests, raffle drawings and a hole-in-one contest.

Women’s Business Network meetings
The Women’s Business Network, which supports the success and growth of women in business, hosts regular meetings in the Star’s coverage area:

Calendar, conservation kits will benefit Rotary
As part of its role in Rotary International’s “End Plastic Soup” campaign — which is aimed at preventing plastics from entering local, state and national waterways where it ultimately ends up in the ocean — the Murrysville-Export Rotary Club will sell calendars featuring artwork created by local students as well as kits aimed at reducing single-use plastic.
The calendars are $10. The $15 kits come equipped with a reusable shopping bag, water bottle, straw and cutlery. Both are available at Completely Booked in the Blue Spruce Shoppes on Route 22, and at the Rotary booth at the weekly Murrysville Farmers Market, which runs from 3-7 p.m. on Thursdays at 3235 Sardis Road.
‘Whiskers and Wine’
The Murrysville chapter of the Women’s Business Network will host a Sept. 21 “Whiskers and Wine” open house at Ives Eyecare Center, 4465 Old William Penn Highway.
It will be at 6:30 p.m. Attendees can meet fellow business women in the area for appetizers and wine. Animals available for adoption through local rescue organizations will be present.
Upcoming Rotary events
• The Murrysville-Export Rotary Club’s Membership Committee will host an Aug. 26 trivia night at the Penn Murry, 5089 Cozy Inn Cutoff in Murrysville.

• The Rotary also will host a Labor Day Car Cruise-In, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the Lamplighter, 6566 William Penn Highway in Salem.
The first 100 entries will receive a dash plaque with their $10 entry donation. The afternoon also will include food, refreshments, door prizes, auction baskets, a 50-50 raffle and a DJ.
