Delmont library to host several events on Feb. 13
The Delmont Public Library will host its second monthly “Swap and Sell Saturday,” where patrons can drop off or purchase gently used books and DVDs, buy handmade items, take or swap gently used puzzle and magazines.
A Valentine’s Day program for children will take place from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. The program is open to all ages, and there is no cost to attend.
The library will also be hosting a food drive during the same time period, for the Westmoreland County Food Bank. Those who attend are asked to bring a non-perishable item to donate.
It will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the new library building, 75 School St.

Glass recycling event set for March 20 in Murrysville
Murrysville officials will once again partner with Republic Services to host a March 20 glass recycling event, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Veterans Field parking lot at 4200 Sardis Road.
All colors of glass bottles, jars and jugs will be accepted. Caps, lids and labels are acceptable. All containers must be emptied.
The following will not be accepted: window glass, drinking glasses and stemware, dishware, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs and TVs.

AARP cancels tax-aide preparation
Due to covid-19 health and safety restrictions, there will be no AARP tax-aide preparation services at St. Regis Catholic Church in Trafford, Cloverleaf Community Center in Delmont or the Murrysville Community Center.
Open AARP tax-aide sites will be listed at AARP.org. Separately, local volunteer income tax assistance sites will be posted at IRS.gov.
Delmont council meeting viewable online
Delmont council’s Feb. 9 meeting is available to view online, in addition to being held at a new location, the new Delmont Public Library’s meeting room at 75 School St.
Residents can watch and participate virtually at Global.gotomeeting.com/join/406167965. Please make sure to mute your device’s microphone unless you are you speaking during public comment.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m.
Upcoming meetings
Here’s a list of upcoming meetings open to the public in either a virtual or in-person format:
• Delmont Historical Society meeting, 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Delmont Public Library.
Divorce workshop will be held virtually
A Feb. 19 workshop to provide education and information on women’s legal and financial issues associated with divorce will take place from 2-5 p.m. in a virtual format.

Synan files for re-election
Incumbent Republican Regis Synan has filed for re-election as mayor of Murrysville.
Synan was elected to the post in 2018, running unopposed, and served as a councilman before moving to the mayor’s seat.
AAUW artists called to submit pieces
Artists who are members of the American Association of University Women’s Murrysville branch are encouraged to submit artwork for the association’s 12th annual art contest.
Photos, sculptures, paintings and more are eligible for entry.

Women’s Business Network meetings
The Murrysville chapter of the Women’s Business Network meets regularly on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, 8:30 a.m. at Dick’s Diner, 4200 William Penn Highway, Murrysville.
Meetings are virtual for the time being and will take place via Zoom.
