Delmont police will hold food drive
The Delmont Police Department will host a Nov. 22 food drive, 8 a.m. to noon at the borough garage, 30 Bierer Street.
Donations, along with the proceeds from the department’s police t-shirt sales, will go to the Westmoreland County Food Bank.

Former school board member re-appointed
The Franklin Regional school board appointed former board member Jane Tower to fill out the term of Gary English, who resigned last month. The term runs through 2023.
Tower was nominated for the appointment along with Michelle Nagoda. Tower’s nomination was confirmed by a 6-2 board vote. Directors Ed Mittereder and Bill Yant voted for Nagoda.
Santa, elves to visit Fletcher’s in Delmont
Santa and his elves will stop by Fletcher’s Outdoor Power Equipment, 2510 Route 66 in Delmont, to visit with children and help Greensburg nonprofit Project Share the Joy take donations for its annual fundraiser, which was canceled this year due to health and safety restrictions.
The event, set for 1 to 3 p.m., Nov. 28, will be set up using a drive-by format, where children can drop off a letter to Santa while maintaining social distancing.
Monetary and toy donations can also be dropped off. Anyone wishing to donate can also drop off items or donations at Fletcher’s beginning Nov. 14.

Fundraiser for FR boys basketball
Chipotle, located at 4137 William Penn Highway in Murrysville, will host a Nov. 24 fundraiser for the Franklin Regional Boys Basketball Boosters.
From 5-9 p.m., those who bring a flier or tell their cashier they are supporting the fundraiser will have a third of the proceeds go to the boosters organization.

Murrysville Woman’s Club meeting set for today
The Murrysville Woman’s Club will meet next at 11:15 a.m., Nov. 19 at the School House Tavern, 2001 Main St., in Penn Township’s Claridge neighborhood.
Lunch will be served at noon, and the featured speaker will be Pittsburgh Zoo photographer Paul Selvaggio.

Glass recycling Dec. 12 in Murrysville
Murrysville and Republic Services officials will host a “pop-up” glass recycling collection day, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Veterans Field parking lot on Sardis Road.
All colors of glass bottles, jars and jugs will be accepted. Caps, lids and labels are acceptable. All containers must be emptied.
The following items will not be accepted: window glass, drinking glasses, dishware, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs and TVs.
