Fundraiser for horse rescue farm

The Pleasant Valley Rescue Ranch will host a fundraiser to help collect donations for veterinary care of its horses on Nov. 16.

“Rein In the Magic of Christmas” will take place from 1-4 p.m. Nov. 16 at the ranch, 2205 Pleasant Valley Road in Murrysville. The cost is $20 per car.

Participants can meet the farm’s rescue horses, enjoy hot dogs and baked goods, and hear live music by The Hawthorns. There will also be basket raffles.

All proceeds go to horse veterinary care. The ranch provides a foster home and palliative care for unwanted horses.

Delmont budget planning sessions

Delmont council will host two fall planning sessions for the 2026 budget.

They will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 28 and Nov. 6. Both sessions will be at the borough building, 77 Greensburg Street. Council will go over revenues and expenditures, making adjustments along the way and discussing various aspects of next year’s budget.

‘Transyl-Mania!’

The Franklin Regional Middle School Thespians will present “Transyl-Mania!” at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the FR Middle School’s Little Theater.

The play sees the children of classic movie monsters attending school to learn how to live up their legendary parents. The world is turned upside down when a group of human students accidentally arrives at the school.

Garden club

The Murrysville Garden Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 23 at the Murrysville Community Library.

The featured speaker will be Mary Jane Alvin, master gardener and a docent at Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. The program will be “Stained Glass in the Garden.”

There is no cost to attend.

Library trick or treat

The Murrysville Community Library’s Teen Advisory Board will host a trick-or-treat event at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Storyteller Alan Irvine will share some seasonal spooky stories. Costumes are encouraged. No registration is necessary.

Book, puzzle sale donations

The Murrysville branch of the American Association of University Women is collecting gently used books and puzzles for its fall book and puzzle sale.

The sale benefits the library and the AAUW’s speaker series, and will be held Nov. 6-8 at the library.

Donations will be accepted through Oct. 31. The following will not be accepted: musty or moldy books, encyclopedias, magazines, textbooks and puzzles with missing pieces.

‘Sleepy Hollow’ reading

Reenactor Ken Serfass will host a live reading of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” at 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Delmont Public Library.

Costumes are welcome. The program is open to all ages.

Trunk or treat

Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church will host an Oct. 26 trunk-or-treat event from 3-5 p.m. as part of its annual fall festival.

The afternoon will include pumpkin carving and decorating, children’s games and more.

It will take place rain or shine.

Leaf collection

The Murrysville officials announced curb-side leaf collection dates for the fall. Collections will take place Oct. 25, Nov. 8, Nov. 22 and Dec. 6.

To schedule a pick-up, residents must fill out a registration form at Murrysville.com. There is a 20-bag limit for each collection date. The deadline to sign up is the Thursday prior to collection.

Fitness business opening

Fitness franchise F45 Training is opening a branch in Murrysville. Founded in Australia, the chain has expanded to more than 3,000 locations in 64 countries, and combines several exercise disciplines into high-energy group workout sessions.

The Murrysville location will be in the Murrysville SportZone at 4491 School Road South. Classes are typically 45 minutes. Owners Logan Summerhill and Aidan Carlisle said they plan to open in mid-October. To celebrate the opening, they are offering a limited-time VIP experience for $45, which includes two weeks unlimited access to the studio in advance of the official opening.

Storybook Trunk or Treat

The Delmont Public Library will host a Storybook Trunk or Treat event from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29 in the library parking lot at 75 School Street.

Walk from trunk to trunk collecting treats and watching stories come to life, and stop by the Salvation Army truck for food and drinks.

Corn maze opens

The corn maze at Gearhard Farms in Murrysville has opened for the season. The maze is open from 5-9 p.m. Monday, 12-9 p.m. on Saturdays and 12-7 p.m. on Sundays.

The cost is $8 per person for the corn maze, and hayrides are also available at $6 per person. Children 4 years old and younger are admitted to both free.
