Murrysville area recreation hikes planned
The Murrysville Recreation Department will host two more “Hot Chocolate Hikes” during the winter. The next will a “Sweetheart Hot Chocolate Hike” at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 at the Lillian Kellman Reserve, 3490 Kellman Drive.
The second will be at 10 a.m. March 18 at Townsend Park, on Townsend Park Court.
There is no cost to attend.
Participants should register online at MurrysvillePArecreation or by calling 724-327-2100, ext. 131, and dress appropriately for the weather. Hikes can involve stepping over fallen trees.
Delmont TOPS group meets at church
The Delmont chapter of Take Pounds Off Sensibly, or TOPS, meets at 3 p.m. every Tuesday at the Delmont Presbyterian Church, 101 Church St. Private weigh-ins will take place at 2:30 p.m.

St. Barbara Parish to host bingo night
St. Barbara Parish in Penn Township will host a Feb. 2 bingo night at the church, 111 Raymaley Road in Penn Township.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and early-bird games begin at 6: 45 p.m. Includes a must-go $1,400 jackpot. Games pay $110 and specials pay $150, with a $1,600 all-nighter. Paper packages start at $27.
Monitors and number boards are used and the kitchen will be open with free coffee.

Westmoreland chamber sets prayer breakfast
Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce members and the community are invited to attend the chamber’s annual prayer breakfast, set for 7 a.m. Jan. 27 at Ferrante’s Lakeview Event Center, 6153 Route 30 in Hempfield.
Former television host and commercial print model Faerie Grace will be the keynote speaker.
The cost is $20 per person and includes a buffet breakfast. Reservations are required by calling 724-834-2900 or registering online at WestmorelandChamber.com.
Franklin Regional to start parent, community lecture series
Franklin Regional officials will host the first speaker in the Franklin Regional Parent & Community Lecture Series on Jan. 25 with a presentation by dietitian Ruth Harper.
It will be at 6 p.m., Jan. 25 at the school’s Little Theater, 4660 Old William Penn Highway in Murrysville.
Harper will present “Raising a Competent Eater: A Balanced Approach Amid Our Culture’s Preoccupation with Food and Body.” Harper is a registered dietitian.

Martial arts studio to open Jan. 30 in Murrysville
Premier Martial Arts will open Jan. 30 in the Maple Commons on Route 22 in Murrysville.
The martial arts studio offers classes in karate, kickboxing, tae kwon do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and krav maga/self-defense.

Cornhole tournament set
A cornhole tournament in Delmont will benefit the Franklin Regional Lady Panthers softball team.
It will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at St. John Baptist de La Salle’s banquet hall, 497 Athena Drive. Two-player teams will compete in a double-elimination tournament. There is a 64-team limit.
The cost is $80 per team, and $25 for spectators.
