Murrysville celebrates with 'Santa at Sardis'
It was a little bit of a soggy celebration, but Murrysville officials’ decision to move its annual holiday event to Sardis Park was a success.
The line was long and steady leading to Santa’s cabin on Dec. 7, as children and parents visited craft tables, nonprofits and dashed around Sardis Park trying to track down items for the Murrysville Community Library’s Christmas-themed scavenger hunt.
The municipality was given the 10-acre park in late 2014 by the private association which had maintained it for years.
The park was chosen as a more suitable location for what was previously the municipal “Night of Lights” event, because it offers more parking and is not nearly as busy with traffic as the former location, near the intersection of Sardis Road and Old William Penn Highway.
The annual event has been renamed “Santa at Sardis.”
