Murrysville OKs contract for bridge work
Murrysville council awarded a $78,000 bid last week for maintenance repairs to three bridges in the municipality.
Plum-based Pugliano Construction will perform maintenance work on the Heather Highlands, Cal-Ken Court and Logan Ferry Road bridges, which were identified for repairs as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s bi-annual inspections.
Jim Morrison said the awarded bid came in significantly lower than the $175,000 price municipal engineers had estimated.
“There’s substantially more work that can be done on other bridges with those resources,” Morrison said.
Morrison he hopes work on the bridges will start in late July, with a 30- to 60-day time frame for construction.
The majority of the work is on the concrete beams which support the bridge’s decks, and will take place underneath the bridge.
Council voted 6-0 to award the bid. Councilman Loren Kase was not present.
