Officer Anthony Talamo’s parents Joseph and Barbara congratulate him following a swearing-in ceremony on Friday, May 10, 2019.

Murrysville’s police department added one officer and lost another May 10, swearing in Officer Anthony Talamo on the same day that longtime K9 officer Argos retired.

Talamo, 27, is a Murrysville native and a 2010 Franklin Regional graduate. Chief Tom Seefeld, who served as Talamo’s training officer at the police academy, said he is the only student Seefeld’s seen who scored a 100% on the written exam.

Argos is a Belgian Malinois from Holland, and has been with the department for almost a decade, since September 2009. He was trained at Shallow Creek Kennels in Sharpsville.

“This has been a great experience in my life,” Kettren said. “People tell you how much work it is, but you don’t know until you’re doing it. I thank the chief and the department for the opportunity.”

Argos will spend his retirement living at Kettren’s home, police officials said.

Below, see video of Talamo’s swearing-in from Friday morning.
