Scout packs to host recruiting night in Murrysville

Scout packs 207 and 213 will hold a recruiting night for children in kindergarten through fifth grade at 7 p.m., Sept. 16 at Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Murrysville.

The event will include a BB gun range for prospective scouts, weather permitting.

Branthoover memorial to be re-dedicated Sept. 11 in Murrysville

American Legion Post 711 in Murrysville will re-dedicate the Branthoover Memorial to all veterans and first responders at 8 a.m., Sept. 11, in the memorial parklet at the intersection of Route 22, Branthoover Cutoff and Tanglewood Way, near Leone Animal Supply in Murrysville.

Veterans, first responders and the pubic are invited to attend.

Glass recycling, food pantry event scheduled

Murrysville and trash hauler Republic Services will once again partner for a glass recycling “pop-up” event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 18.

It will be at the Veterans Field parking lot, 4200 Sardis Road in Murrysville.

All colors of glass bottles, jars and jugs will be accepted. Caps, lids and labels are acceptable. All containers must be empty.

The following will not be accepted: window glass, drinking glasses/stemware, dishware, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs and TVs.

In addition, attendees can bring nonperishable food donations for the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry.

Upcoming meetings

The following public meetings will be held in the Star’s coverage area:

• Franklin Regional school board voting meeting, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Murrysville municipal building, 4100 Sardis Road. Meetings are broadcast live on Comcast Channel 19 and archived on the district’s YouTube page.

• Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority, 6 p.m., Sept. 16 at the authority offices, 3001 Meadowbrook Road in Murrysville.

• Franklin Regional school board committee-of-the-whole meeting (no voting), 7:30 p.m., Oct. 4 at the Murrysville municipal building. Meetings are broadcast live on Comcast local access Channel 19 and archived on the district’s YouTube page.

• Export council, 6:30 p.m., Oct. 5 at the borough building, 5821 Washington Avenue.

• Murrysville council, 7 p.m., Oct. 6 at the Murrysville municipal building. Meetings are broadcast live on Comcast local access Channel 19 and can be streamed at Murrysville.com.
