A new season for the Murrysville Farmer’s Market has begun.
Opening day took place on a rainy Thursday, June 2.
However, that didn’t stop a variety of vendors and customers from participating.
Businesses and organizations with tents on opening day included the Murrysville Lions Club, Bayne’s Pies, Country Hammer Moonshine, Daugherty’s Orchards, Earth, Wheel and Fire, and Get Your Gnome On.
People can find fresh produce, pies, wood-fired pizzas, flowers and other plants, pastured meats, candles and more at the market.
Lions Club treasurer Rick Semk said his group has been involved in the market for years and enjoys interacting with people at the weekly event.
The club sells brooms and small blankets, and is accepting eye glasses to be distributed to folks in need and Third-World countries.
Chaganra Farm of Latrobe is in its fourth year at the market. It offers various non-GMO fed pastured pork and poultry.
Co-owner Mike Little said it’s a good place to meet new people and engage customers instead of through social media.
The market is open Thursdays from June through September from 3-7 p.m. by the fire hall at 3235 Sardis Road.
