Memorial Day car show returns

The Manordale Knights of Columbus group will host its fourth Memorial Day car show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 31 at St. John’s Church, 497 Athena Drive in Delmont.

The show is free to visitors and includes a special salute to veterans scheduled for 1 p.m.

Plans also include a DJ, food, door prizes, a 50-50 raffle and a wide variety of Chinese auction baskets.

Proceeds will go to the Veteran’s PA Hero Fund, Westmoreland County Food Bank’s Military Share program and Genre’s Kids with Cancer Fund.

Council awards paving contract

Murrysville council voted unanimously May 5 to award a $1.35 million contract for this year’s paving program to Derry Construction.

While the final list may change slightly before construction begins, it is slated to include Andrews Drive, Carson Avenue, Hills Church Road between Mamont and Sinan Farm, Meadowbrook Road between Ivy Drive and the FTMSA plant, Old William Penn Highway between Route 22 and Cline Hollow Road, Simmons Circle, Windgate Drive and Kellman Drive.

Appraisal event delayed indefinitely

The Delmont Historical Preservation’s Society’s planned appraisal event, originally scheduled for May 15, has been postponed indefinitely.

The society will announce a new date.

Engraving business to host grand opening

Life’s Lasered Moments, a personalized engraving business, will hold a May 28 grand opening at 4526 William Penn Highway, at the Village of Murrysville shopping plaza.

The company engraves on acrylic, brick, leather, metal, slate, stone and wood. The grand opening will include free food and drinks and giveaways.

Woman’s club slated to meet May 20

The Murrysville Woman’s Club will hold its monthly meeting at 11:15 a.m. May 20 at Atria’s, 4869 William Penn Highway in Murrysville.

Delmont librarian Denni Grassel will be the featured speaker, discussing the new library building and its environmentally friendly features.

Military nonprofit to host indoor yard sale

Penn Hills nonprofit Military Connections, which sends care packages to troops stationed overseas, will host an indoor yard sale, 8 a.m. to noon June 12 at Living Word of Plum, 200 Elicker Road in Plum.

All proceeds will benefit the group’s care package project.

Donations of gently used goods for the sale can also be arranged by emailing militaryconnections@hotmail.com. Donations will be accepted by appointment only through June 8.

Televisions, computer monitors and adult clothing will not be accepted.
